Innovate Ag

DSHS is excited to offer INNOVATE AG for our senior students.  Over 2 years students will study a Cert III in Agriculture, Cert II in Rural Operations, Cert II in Engineering, Essential Maths and Essential English.  Students are given direct access to industry leaders through mentoring and spend lots of hands on hours at our beautiful Bunya Campus.

Cattle Showing - Bunya Campus

Bunya Campus is the perfect location for the Dalby State High School cattle showing program. Students meet twice per week to learn the techniques of cattle showing and cattle handling. The show team attend a number of local shows along with Beef expo, Farm fest and Brisbane Ekka.  Bunya Campus residents get the added benefit of gaining the hands on experience, helping to care for the animals health and wellbeing on a daily basis.

Equestrian - Program Bunya Campus

Bunya Campus residents who sign up to be a part of the equestrian program can attend riding lessons here on campus and help to care for the campus horses, we also offer beginner horsemanship and on occasions go for trail rides on the weekends.  Students can use one of the Bunya Campus horses for lessons or  bring their own horse to live here in our lovely stable complex (fees apply).

Instrumental Music - Bunya and Nicholson Campus

Students from all year levels are invited to be involved in the instrumental music program. Through the program students learn to play the concert instrument of their choice and participate in the Concert Band, Stage Band and other ensembles. Some school-owned equipment is available on loan to students. It is generally expected that students will have their own instrument for their second year of tuition. Bunya campus offers group tuition and has our own music/rec room with drums, guitars, piano and keyboard.

Musical and Choir - Nicholson Campus

Each year, the school presents to the public a musical production involving students from all grades. Auditions are held early in the year and rehearsals begin in the first term. The musical production has an established reputation in the local community for its excellence. The school choir forms each year under the guidance of the classroom music teacher and complements the school's cultural performances.

Sport - Bunya and Nicholson Campus

Sport is an integral part of the school curriculum. Physical Education is compulsory in the middle phase and sport options are offered to senior students. Sport is viewed as being important in the holistic development of our students, with the focus being participation and opportunity rather than elitism. The school has four sporting houses; Bunya, Myall, Kurrajong and Wilga. The swimming carnival and athletics carnival allow students to participate as a member of their house. For serious athletes, an age championship is conducted at each of the carnivals. Students are also encouraged to participate in a wide range of inter-school competitions including Touch Football, Volleyball, Rugby League, Netball, Cricket, Soccer and Tennis. Students wanting to represent the school district or region can do so via Darling Downs Regional Teams. Most summer and winter sports are catered for.
