Dalby State High School Bunya Campus is situated on the Bunya Highway approximately 5kms from the centre of Dalby.
Dalby is the gateway to the Surat Basin and is situated on the rich soils of the Darling Downs. Located 211km north west of Brisbane, Dalby lies at the crossroads to Toowoomba, Kingaroy, Roma, Mundubbera and Goondiwindi. A short one to three hour drive from Toowoomba, Brisbane and the Gold and Sunshine Coasts makes a visit to rural Australia an easy trip for the metropolitan visitor.
Dalby and the surrounding Western Downs Shire is at the centre of rich coal and natural gas reserves which underpin the power generation industry for south east Queensland. The region is renowned as a rich agricultural area, growing crops such as cotton, sorghum, wheat, barley, sunflowers, chickpeas, mung beans and corn, as well as the production of lamb, beef and pork. Diversification into the fish, hemp and native flower markets has occurred in recent times.
The Dalby region is a vibrant 'go ahead' rural community with a town population of approximately 12,000 with a further 5,000 residing in the rural district. As well as large coal and gas fired power stations, it has the largest grain receivable depot in Queensland, the largest one day livestock market in Australia and has one of the largest regional industrial and agricultural manufacturing sectors.
Two environmental parks in close proximity to Dalby feature pristine rainforest at the Bunya Mountains and a natural 'Lake Broadwater home' many native flora and fauna species.
